When is the last time you played Dress-Up?
For most of High School and College, I have carefully picked out my outfits for each day the night before. (unless I was sleep deprived from design work, of course) But today I just wanted to have some fun! I bought this tutu for New Years last year and I haven’t worn it since. So today I went into my closet and just pick three outfits to just to have fun and you can tell me if they are successful.
I threw the rules out the window and just went for it!
So I would be lying if I said that I didn’t have an idea in mind for each.
For this first one I wanted a day look that had a bohemian edge to it. So for this one I paired my Tutu up with a Peplum Top and an Army Green dress that I unbuttoned and turned into a vest. and simply just threw on some studded boots.
I would call myself a heavy bottomed girl so, I don’t usually have this much volume on the lower half of my body it was fun just to layer and then keep layering.
For the next look I attempted to make a tutu business casual. I don’t usually mix many patterns and textures. And I would usually advise to just stick to one, either pattern or texture, out of personal preference.
Now also realizing that this looks very similar to the first look. This one I paired with a printed tank and a olive wool blazer I made when I studied abroad in Italy and finally a pair of snake print buckled heels.
I love the oversized blazer on top of the tulle. It gives a masculine appeal to an oh so feminine skirt.
Saving my Favorite for Last.
Sometimes you just want a tulle slip, even though it is secretly a full TUTU!
For this look I simple pulled that tutu up to my lady friends and threw a shift dress over top. This look definitely surprised me the most! I was sure that having a tutu under a dress was going to make me look huge but I don’t think it does. Even more so I think it adds a flirty flair to the pretty simple dress.
So you guys can tell me what you think? Was my tutu adventure successful or do you think I over styled the piece?
