Fashion Renewal

Fashion Renewal

If you’re anything like me, or any other woman on this planet, you’ve probably found yourself in a sort of “fashion rut” at one point or another in your lifetime. However, not everyone can completely ditch their wardrobes and afford to restock their closets (especially not the broke and shameless girls!) So todays post has six easy suggestions to help get you out of your rut without breaking the bank.
1) Get organized!!!

Before you can even begin to evaluate your wardrobe situation, you need to go through your closet and get rid of anything you haven’t worn in a year or more. Yes, it might come back into style, but probably not for another 30 years, and when it does you’ll probably have the money to buy something cooler. Just get rid of it! Once you’ve weeded your closet of the horrible fashions of the 2000’s, start organizing it in whatever way works for you. Mine is done by color, but before I switched it up it was done by categories (sweaters, tees, jackets, pants, etc). If you’re super organized than you can try both!  At this point you should already be feeling the tiniest bit better, but we’re not done! So grab your donation pile and take it to your nearest Plato’s Closet or any store that will pay you for your clothes (you’re going to need the money for steps two and three!)
2) Invest in a Basic

Find something that you will be able to pair with almost anything in your closet, whether its a slip or a great pair of jeans. If you have it, you can invest a little more money into this garment since it is going to be something you’ll probably wear every week. My most recent purchase was a pale pink top from Marshall’s (I’m still broke). This top is something I can wear by itself while it’s still warm and then layer with sweaters in the fall and winter. By adding this item to my closet, it allows me to add a little something extra to my outfits without having to buy ten new looks.
3) Go Crazy

If you’re in a true rut, you’re going to need something to spice up your life (nice Spice Girls reference, I know). I do not recommend spending a lot on whatever this garment may be because chances are it’s not going to be in style for much longer and you probably won’t be wearing it on a daily basis. However this item should be something a little out of the box and maybe even slightly out of your comfort zone, fashion is all about risks right? I just recently bought these plaid pants, which I’m still not sure about, but I’m definitely willing to take the risk and try to fit them into my wardrobe. By purchasing this type of item, it should inspire you to form new outfits and get excited about your closet again and still not break the bank!
4) Switch up your Purse

Your purse is something that you bring around with you every day so it’s easy to get sick of it. You don’t necessarily have to buy a brand new bag, but just switch it up to give yourself something new to look at! It also always makes me feel better to clean out my purse and throw away all of those receipts and gum rappers that always seem to add up!
5) Switch up your Part

This is something super simple that can make such a dramatic change. It might take a crazy amount of bobby pins and hair spray at first, but once you’ve moved your part to a different side of your head you’re going to feel like a whole new woman!
6) Lipstick, Lipstick, Lipstick

If you don’t already wear it, what are you waiting for!? Even a light shade of lipstick can brighten up your face and make you feel 10 times more put-together and sassy. If you already wear it, go buy a new shade! Try something you’ve never done before and dare to be bold!
